Biopic: Sergei Polunin
The Biopic project was about taking a celebrity, researching them and recreating their lives for an audience, I chose to design my costumes for a film (screen) as it accommodates for the multiple scene changes. I pin-pointed key moments in their life and identifying key people that aided their success.
It included a design phase that progressed into constructing one of my designs into a physical made-to-measure costume for an appropriate male performer. 5 of the 7 designs were recreations of key moments in his life, 1 included a design made for an imagined scene and the 7th design made for a key character in the celebrity's life.

This costume is based on the design that was designated for the imagined scene, the costume represents the moment in the ballet dancer's life where he is unsure what to do with himself as he questions his relationship with ballet.
This costume represents his rebellion and recklessness while also showing some reflection on his past and therefore his ballet performances. The wine stains and ripped ballet jacket shows his anger and recklessness, the other aspects of this costume are clothes the ballet dancer is comfortable wearing when partying, perhaps taken from the numerous magazine photoshoots he has taken part in over his career.
